Chocolate, banana walnut, carrot or all three - take your pick for a mug cake that’s quick, delicious and delightful. All you need is a microwave and a mug to give the staples in your kitchen pantry a scrumptious makeover!

Chocolate Mug Cake

Ingredients

Flour 4 tsp
Sugar 4 tsp
Cocoa powder 2 tsp
Water 2 tsp
Oil 2 tsp
Vanilla essence ½ tsp

Cooking Techniques

  1. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Pour into your favourite microwave-proof mug.
  3. Microwave for approximately 45 seconds to 1 minute under close watch.

Chef's Notes

Top it with some broken chocolate or a scoop of ice cream for extra indulgence!

Carrot Mug Cake

Ingredients

Refined or whole wheat flour 2 tbsp
Sugar ½ tsp
Baking powder ½ tsp
Cinnamon powder ¼ tsp
Nutmeg (optional) a pinch
Salt a pinch
Refined or coconut or olive oil 1 tbsp
Water 3-4 tbsp
Grated carrot 2 tbsp
Soaked raisins 1 tbsp

Cooking Techniques

  1. Mix all dry ingredients together in a mug.
  2. Add water and whisk. Add oil next and mix it to a smooth consistency.
  3. Fold in grated carrots, and add the soaked raisins.
  4. Cook in a microwave for 2-2½ minutes, depending on the size of the mug and power of the microwave.

Chef's Notes

You may substitute refined flour with wheat flour and regular oil with olive oil.

Banana Walnut Mug Cake

Ingredients

Banana, mashed: half, medium-sized
Refined or whole wheat flour 2 tbsp
Milk or non-dairy milk 1 tbsp
Refined or coconut oil 1 tbsp
Honey ½ tbsp
Cinnamon powder ¼ tsp
Baking powder ¼ tsp
Salt a pinch
Walnuts, chopped 4

Cooking Techniques

  1. Mix all the ingredients (except walnuts) together in a mug to a smooth consistency.
  2. Add the walnuts and mix well.
  3. Cook in a microwave for 1-1½ minutes depending on the power of the microwave.

Chef's Notes

You may also add some chocolate chunks for a gooey texture. Top it with caramelised banana or whipped cream for complete decadence!
